Servants of Chaos – Spotlight: Light of the Morning Star

Prepare to witness the resurrection of vampiric entity LIGHT OF THE MORNING STAR, as they emerge from the grave at Servants of Chaos festival for a rare and exclusive appearance.

Since 2016 debut EP, "Cemetery Glow", LIGHT OF THE MORNING STAR has enchanted dark souls with their haunted and ritualistic hymns. The spell was prolonged via 2017 full-length "Nocta" and consolidated in 2021 with the band's DMP debut "Charnel Noir" - a formidable collection of shadow-songs, irresistible as blood to the ravenous undead.

LIGHT OF THE MORNING STAR masterfully craft a soundtrack for nocturnal and sanguine spirits, potently blending cinematic Deathrock, ghoulish Doom, heavy post-Punk and an undertow of atmospheric Black Metal.

Coinciding perfectly with their appearance at Servants of Chaos, LIGHT OF THE MORNING STAR will release a new EP, "Wings in the Night Sky", on October 4th. This four-track EP is their darkest, coldest, and most majestic offering yet.

Listen here to the new song 'Burial Chamber Cold':

Main composer O-A granted us an audience to discuss their forthcoming performance at Servants of Chaos:

Q: This will be the first time you perform material from the new EP and "Charnel Noir" onstage. How are preparations going?

Yes, that's right, it will be our first-time performing songs from "Charnel Noir". Preparations are going well; at this moment we're focussed on determining which of the songs will work cohesively in our performance. While our themes are consistent, and we want to present the band's aura first and foremost, we also want to ensure the set is engaging and interesting for our audience; an eternal puzzle in itself (for all artists, I'd imagine).

Concerning the EP, we're currently determining exactly which to choose, but overall, I see the "Wings in the Night Sky" EP as the coldest release of ours thus far. It's LIGHT OF THE MORNING STAR at our least human.

Q: Will you perform at Servants of Chaos with the same live line-up from your few rare previous appearances?

Certainly; the lineup for Servants of Chaos is the same live lineup we've always had. While the live lineup hasn't performed on our recordings, they're important to the spirit of the Art and how it's conveyed. However, we are still split internationally across multiple countries...just countries not as distant as New Zealand.

Q: You haven't played many live shows with LIGHT OF THE MORNING STAR yet. Is that something you would like to change soon? Or is Servants of Chaos festival a very rare chance to catch your Art in a live environment?

As it stands, this will be one of our rare live performances. For now, anyway. As mentioned above, with our dispersion, there are hurdles to having more frequent live performances. But I'm not averse to special events like this being made even more so.

Q: Which other performances at Servants of Chaos are you most looking forward to witnessing?

The whole line up is fantastic, but MÜTTERLEIN, AKHLYS, and ULCERATE especially.

LIGHT OF THE MORNING STAR will perform on October 19th at Servants of Chaos festival. Find all information about the event here and order your ticket here!
